What are cookies?

Cookies are small text strings stored on your computer when you visit certain pages on the Internet, when you read certain emails or when you use certain services. They are simple lines of text used for various purposes: to perform automatic authentication, to store specific information regarding users who access the server, to track behavior for statistical purposes. Cookie management is under the direct control of the user: it is possible to prevent the registration of cookies, delete them or simply select the ones you wish to keep. In most browsers, cookies are enabled; at the bottom you will find the information necessary to change the cookie settings on your browser. During navigation, the user may also receive cookies from different sites on his terminal (so-called "third party" cookies), set directly by the managers of said websites and used for the purposes and according to the methods defined by them.

These cookies may be from a Croix du Sud site or a partner, and may have a session or persistent duration. These cookies are usually the result of a user action, but they can also be implemented in the provision of a service not explicitly requested but offered to the user. They can also be used to prevent a previously offered and rejected service from being offered again to that user. Furthermore, these cookies allow sites to remember the user's choices (such as username, language, country of origin, and so on). The information collected by these cookies is anonymous and cannot track the user's behavior on other sites. Some examples of the use of these cookies include:

Remembering the settings that a user has applied to a website such as layout, font size, preferences, color, and so on;
Remembering a choice so that the completion of a questionnaire is no longer required;
Detecting whether a service has already been offered, such as offering a tutorial for subsequent visits to the website;
Provide information to enable an optional service to function, such as offering a live chat session; Fulfill a user request, such as submitting a comment.

These cookies may be from a Croix du Sud site or a partner, session or persistent, their use is limited to the performance and improvement of the website. These cookies collect information on how a visitor uses the site, such as the pages visited. These cookies do not collect information that can identify the user. All information collected by these cookies is aggregated anonymously and is used only to improve the functionality of the site. Some examples of use of these cookies include:

Performance analysis: measuring site performance with a focus on the user’s navigation experience.
